Judge Finley this morning ruled the concealed/carry law unconstitutional. Attaching the concealed/carry legislation to a wholly unrelated bill about the DNR was improper:
This is probably off topic for the St Paul list but I think it is relevent as it was pretty much the lack of permits being issued by the Metro (Ramsey County especially) Area, where if you went into other counties it was no big deal.
I have to comment that it is Interesting how they do this ALL the time but only on certain issues is it ever challenged. Ever take a look at legislation that gets to the governors desk? I have, and unrelated bills attached is BUSINESS AS USUAL.
Not a problem I am sure it will be overturned on appeal. Who in Ramsey county filed the suit on the constitutionality of it? That was something I have not heard and not wishing to register with the STRIB, have not read the article though I suspect it will be in the paper tomorrow. From what I heard this is going to be challenged by Hatch and they are not sure what to do with those of us who followed the law and got our permits under the law.
