Mike: You are right the Emma Norton Residence was one of the projects up for discussion. I will refute that it had anything to do with "those kinds of people" and more to do with the safety of the children of the people that would be living there. That intersection is a busy and dangerous one, and there were concerns that small children in a high concentration near that intersection would not be very safe.
There have been problems in the past with children crossing that busy intersection to go to school in the morning and it is a busy intersection. That is why the senior project was a better fit. In addition, if memory serves correctly, there were issues with funding and the developer, but you would get a more accurate read on that one from someone on the District Council at that time. I was just a concerned and interested citizen.
