I addressed the poor city services we get about two or three weeks ago on
this list, and I too am frustrated with the high property taxes we pay in
relation to other urban first ring cities. I remember looking at the
property tax values state wide on a government list, and if memory serves
correctly, Saint Paul at that time paid more rivaled the property taxes of
Edina.

I can think of areas that need to be seriously looked at. An obvious area to
look is the salary and perks of the Superintendent of Saint Paul Schools. I
have stated and will state again, that there is NO REASON any school
district Superintendent should make a salary well above that of the State's
Governor. That should be a no-brainer. AND as long as I have climbed on my
soapbox on this issue, I think that we should be able to find qualified
candidates for positions of this nature within the confines of our own
state. I will never believe that we don't have experienced candidates that
rival Ms. Harvey's qualifications in this great state.
