There is no doubt in my mind, that the issue of Terrorism is a legitimate topic for discussion in this forum. It is fully appropriate to talk about what our city is doing to prevent it and prepare for it.
Also, the discussion defining Terrorism is an interesting and important discussion as well. HOWEVER, the discussion about defining terrorism does NOT belong in OUR forum. I apologize for allowing that discussion to go on as long as it did. Unfortunately, I was unexpectedly off-line for a few days.
In specific, the comparisons being made between the domestic terrorism of Timothy McVeigh and the international terrorism of Bin Laden do not belong here. Again, this is an interesting discussion, but off-topic for our forum.
If anyone wants to continue the discussion about how prepared we are in St. Paul? What additional security measures might be taken? Or whether or not the threat in St. Paul is significant enough to justify additional actions - then please do so.
But, keep the focus on St. Paul AND stay away from philosophical discussions about what terrorism "is" and "where it comes from."
