I also was 1st in my precinct at 7:15. No, I don't want party registration.
I've lived in 2 states with it. I did not like it.

Responsively yours,

Subject: [StPaul] Election Day - mischief?

For those of you who haven't noticed, (and seeing I was the first to vote at
my poll at 7:30 not many of you have noticed) today is Primary Election Day.

As a long time advocate of party registration, today is a great example of
the mischief that can be caused be one's ability vote in any primary one
chooses. In the Fourth District the DFL has no primary for congress, the
incumbent will be on the November ballot. However, both the GOP and
Independence parties have primaries. Now some DFL'ers might see this as a
time where they could vote for the non-endorsed GOP'er who is off in Italy
somewhere, but a real mischief maker would look at the Independence Party
ballot and see a choice between Peter Vento (Bruce's brother) and Bob
Cardinal (pro-life Mayor of Maplewood). Hmm let's think about this in the
general election with three names on the ballot do I want one of them to be
"Vento" who will steal votes from the DFL incumbent, or do I want the
pro-life Mayor of Maplewood who has already attracted a strong following of
GOP'ers to his banner in his suburban elections? Hmmm? What would someone
do?

Now, don't you wish we had party registration?
