To the citizens of Hennepin County/Minneapolis - which dwarfs Ramsey County/St. Paul in size and population - for electing truly responsible officials who care about the public's interest and health and have courageously passed as comprehensive a smoking ban as possible in light of the extraordinary pressures of special interests - liquor, tobacco, etc.
Congrats to all of our irresponsible officials who have blocked the same ban in St. Paul and Ramsey County for attracting all of Hennepin County's smokers. This will surely mean big bucks in your pockets and lots of taxpayer money going to treat health problems in local hospitals. Lots of great business-building and lots of sick people. What a swell economic development initiative - creating a haven for smokers. Goodbye to St. Paul restaurants that allow smoking. The people I know will be jumping across the river(s) for dinner and a drink.
