Kinda surprised with all the discussion about education that no one has voiced any opinion in how the School System handled the incident with the student on Friday.

From what I read, sounds like it was handled smartly first by the people who found the planner, then by the school, the police, and even up to the super holding a press conference.

It does disturb me that there are kids, even in our heavenly city of Saint Paul, that actually are this disturbed, and only by accident was it discovered prior to anything was carried out.

Is there anything more the schools can or should do to help discover these people sooner? I am not sure we can.

Are we doing the best we can given the random nature of this sort of thing? It seems given this particular incident that we are, but it does seem like it was an accident that it was discovered in advance. I would also hate to see metal detectors and police roaming the schools as well (if we could even afford such security measures).

Any discussion on safety in the schools for kids?
