On Thursday, November 18 at 5:30 at the Landmark Center in St. Paul (75 W. 5th Street), there will be a book signing party and centennial celebration of The Murphy Trucking and Warehousing companies first 100 years in business. As part of the program, Brian McMahon will be giving a slide presentation entitled "Horses, Trains, Planes, Trucks and Cars - The Transportation History of the Midway". This will be a fun look at the larger context within which the Murphy Companies operated so successfully. During that time they operated at a number of different locations along University Avenue and throughout the Midway area. A book entitled "Bought 2 Horses & a Wagon - The Story of the Murphy Companies 1904-2004", by Virginia Brainard Kunz, has just been published by the Ramsey County Historical Society . Free and open to the public, and refreshments provided.
