On the unofficial behalf of those of us in St. Paul who DO stop and offer to
help people in trouble, let me say how sorry I am that no one was there to
help you when you needed it. I'm so glad you two weren't hurt, but it was
truly a case of adding insult to injury, and I am sorry.

Sure, there are lots of possible "explanations," such as people focused on
their own Friday rush home and/or not realizing what had happened, but
certainly no excuses. Whether or not they knew what had happened, people
SHOULD have realized you weren't stumbling around the street with your car
and yourselves simply to mess up their commute, and even if they weren't
willing to help, should have at least not made the situation worse by
becoming angry or impatient.

Nobody deserves to be treated that way, and especially not when they've just
had an accident. I really appreciate your bringing this to everyone's
attention, and hope it will help us all remember to be more patient, kind,
and helpful to others, as we hope they will be to us when we need it.
