Except that in Saint Paul, it's about $10,000 per student. So there's little excuse, IMHO, for anything even remotely like this. If Nick Coleman exagerated, there's still a kernal of truth there. And there's no excuse for it all the same.


Period, end of story.  Someone needs to be fired.

I know that's a hard-ass position, but frankly if you want to make sure that all the kids in Saint Paul get a good shot -- including the kids the neighborhood that used to be Rondo before they were chased out -- there's two parts to it:

1)  Making sure it's funded properly, and
2)  Making sure the money you send is spend properly.

I'm as lefty as they get on #1, usually, but I can be all Newt Gingerich when it looks like #2 isn't being held up. The money went somewhere -- and if it didn't go to kids who damned well need it, then someone stole it. I don't care if it's for some kind of enrichment or some kind of reporting back to 360 Colborne or any of that -- if you take money that someone desperately needs to get a fair shot in life, you're stealing.
