Midway Residents and those who shop in the Midway:

Please visit <http://www.universityunited.com/> www.universityunited.com
and take our new Midway On-Line Retail Survey. The survey asks question
about the Midway shopping centers, and will take about 5 minutes to
complete.

On the front page of Sunday's Star Tribune there is another article about
the state of retail in the region. It paints a disappointing picture of St.
Paul which ranks last among the listed cities in local retail sales per
capita. St. Paul has only 2/3 of the retail sales per capita of
Minneapolis, and has only 1/7 the sales per capita of metro-leader
Roseville. This means less local sales tax revenues going toward the STAR
program for capitol improvement projects, and fewer jobs in St. Paul. A
report released by University UNITED almost 2 years ago (available on our
website) analyzed the underperforming Midway retail centers and made a
number of recommendations.

The survey will help us gather information about the shopping patterns and
perceptions of area residents. We will be announcing the results of this
survey on January 27 at a community forum at 6:30 pm at University UNITED,
1954 University Avenue. We will also be doing a slide show of successful
urban retail developments from around the country, and setting up a
community advisory group to work with local merchants. Please take the time
to fill out our on-line survey, and pass along to friends. Thank you.
