To me, the beauty of the Renaissance Box is its international flavor; the eclectic mix of creative/business/working class folks which mingle there; and its clever reuse of space and mateials (from the loading dock turned theater, to the historic pressure valves which decorate the walls, to the old church doors which were fitted as a new entrance accross from the Embassy Suites). Rather than tearing down and starting fresh (which was the strategy for much of the rest of North-East quad redevelopment) the Renaisance Box preserves and enhances "Old St. Paul".
I can't thank building owner Martin Lubell enought for his vision and determination in transforming this little corner of St. Paul, and would encourage folks to take Martin up on his invitation to stop by during the Open House and Potluck Dinner, Wednesday 5:00-> Midnight.
If you stop by, shove your head in the Bike Shop and say hello! I will be down there until about 7:30 wrenching on bikes and doing some paperwork.
