From Dennis' post: Big deal. He's a democrat. Such behavior is not only overlooked by decent democrats, it's defended by the others. Dennis Tester Mac-Groveland
I disclaim all affiliation with parties (again). I tend to side with the dems when they pick candidates, but I distance myself when they nominate only party loyalists or complete buffoons. I miss the brand of republican that the late Gov Elmer L. Anderson used to personify, when fiscal discipline was married to the sense that "we're all in this together."
I respect Independents and sympathize with the Greens, because they both challenge our two-party establishment that tends to paint us all as One or the Other.
Patty, in response to your question, I believe that the future of St. Paul is greater than a past mistake of an elected official. We do not know the whole story behind the situation, only the inflammatory statements that tend to get reprinted, containing grains of truth but often much exaggeration.
I will support a candidate who admits to his or her mistakes any day over a politician who insists somehow they are "led by God" and that they do not make mistakes (no need to name these individuals here; we all know & fear these people).
Until I return in a week or so...
