Here is how I look at these things:

Someone disagreeing with me gets a negative mark. Someone behaving mildly unethical in office gets two negatives. Criminallly unethical a lot more. Being smart is a postive mark, as is agreeing with me on stuff.

Having an affair, it's like half a mark.

Now, in this scheme of things, I might rank somone I agree with but distrust LOWER than someone I don't like but trust. I have voted that way before, and will again. But to me, a personal lapse is like half of a public lapse.

Now, we all get to vote, and if your system is a bit different, it all evens out somewhere along the way.

Randy Kelly, as Mayor, has done many things I disagree with and committed what I consider minor ethical lapses. I don't like him. Rafael Ortega has gone against me on a few important things (I'm from the West End -- I don't forget Busways unless a really good mea culpa happens) but he's ethical and smart. Jay appears ethical and has been against me less, but this thing puts him, I'd say, about a half a mark behind.

It's not a huge deal, but it's there is all I'm saying. Compared to Kelly's accumulation, to me, it's nothing -- but I only have one thing on Ortega to be all pissy about. There's always time to earn more positives and negatives, IMHO, and overcome the deficit. Or build it.

As always, your milage may vary. Substantial penalty for early withdrawal.
