I just rec'd this announcement from the organization cited by Anne. This is the
survey I referred to in an earlier post. I'm hoping to learn more there about
the mechanisms available to encourage a variety of development projects. One
of the things I said in my own response to the survey was that the physical
layout of the 3 Midway shopping areas is unfriendly and sometimes downright
dangerous. But I have no idea if the city can influence how parking lots and
entrance/exits are laid out.

>From University United:

Because of the very strong interest in our upcoming Midway Shopping Area
Meeting, we are changing the location to a larger meeting room. It will be held
on Thursday, January 27 at Model Cities Brownstone building, 849 University
Avenue (at Victoria) at 6:30 PM. The results of our on-line survey will be
announced, and there will be a presentation of quality urban retail projects
from around the country. In addition, a Community Retail Task Force will be
established.

We have already received 114 responses to our on-line retail survey. If you
have not done so, please consider completing the survey at
www.universityunited.com (it only takes about 5 minutes). We look forward to
seeing you on January 27th.
