Remember Tim: Bonds are for Buildings, Levies are for Learning Salaries and Benefits
It always amazes me when people do not understand that the majority of a school district's budget goes for salaries. If people think for one minute they would realize that that's what schools are- teachers in classrooms. bus drivers on buses, cooks in kitchens, principals, counselors, special ed, nurses, etc. . That is what we pay for.
And teachers have to be educated. So we pay for a very educated workforce in our schools. And of course they get benefits. They are career people. They are not volunteers. Duh.
Why do people begrudge the fact that teachers get salary increases and benefits? Doesn't everyone in a full time position? Why does it make sense to pay teachers who have such an influence on the minds and potential of our kids meager salaries but to pay people in a lot of other less responsible positions (which I won't name and start a minor war) exorbitant salaries and make them heros??? Weird world we live in.
I respect our teachers. They have a heck of a job nowadays and very limited resources. They earn every penny.
