I don't mean to stifle this discussion, but I'm hearing the same old arguments from the same people.
Does anyone have anything new to contribute to this discussion?
I've been told by folks that I respect, that the above comments were "out of line."
I certainly apologize, if I've diminished anyones contributions to this discussion. As I hope you all know, I'm a proponent of public discussion and debate. Many of the "smoking ban" comments today were thoughtful and articulate.
I was lazy this afternoon and didn't take the time to express myself in the way that I should have, in the way that I encourage others to be thoughtful about what they post.
What I meant to suggest, was that in my opinion, the really interesting discussion on the subject of the smoking ban - is somewhere between the "I have a god given right to smoke anywhere I choose" and "we should take everyones cigarettes away tomorrow." While our discussion was not as black and white as this, I felt (note expression of PERSONAL opinion, not fact) it was moving in this direction - and my post was a personal response.
Thanks to EVERYONE for their participation in this forum. In general, I've been very pleased with the quality of discussions that we have had of late. Please, keep on posting - and don't let my occasional bouts of frustration get you down!
