We all know that Al Franken was waiting until 2008 to take The Norm on, but what do people think of Franken against the Gray Flannel Three; Gut "No Knowing" Nick, Rod "I have nothing to do with that wiretapping" Grams, and Mark "How Can This Guy Call Himself A" Kennedy? Dann Dobson Summit Hill

According to last poll, Dayton's approval rating (43%) shows that he is obviously losing at least 10-20% of democrat support, no doubt due to his bizarre behavior of late. He never had a chance to win the republican votes (Kennedy, Grams, Gutenicht et al were playing one-potato-two-potato to see who would get his seat). He had the left wing vote wrapped up no matter what he did, but he needed 100% of the moderate democrat vote as well to win. With his recent gaffs, he saw that moderate or conservative democrats were going to be willing to consider a moderate republican candidate. His recent support for legislation to help the army reservists and his endorsement of Kelly were attempts to appear more moderate and perhaps win back those moderate democrat voters. With the pending announcement of Ventura entering the race, Dayton knew that Jesse would take more of the terminally naive college voters that democrats depend on, and that put Ventura over the top when he ran for governor. Factor in his fund-raising woes and it was going to be virtually impossible for him to win. It also now removes his need to endorse Kelly, which only angered the left, his one solid block of dependable votes. When you add it all up, the votes aren't there. Game, set, match.
