Well, this topic is likely to spur some interesting discussion in the days to come.

At 12:29 PM -0600 2/16/05,
Please recheck the time-line in the article. Kelly was notified several
months before the FBI started the investigation. To act on the information
could not have interfered with an investigation that had not yet started.
Dan's question is still unanswered.

I just read the Pioneer Press and StarTribune articles and cannot find any references to Mayor Kelly being informed prior to the FBI investigation. I could be missing something, in which case, I'd be happy to be corrected.

The Pioneer Press article today focused on a memo that was written in August, four months after the FBI informed the mayor about their investigation.

http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/news/local/10909515.htm

"The August e-mail, written four months after the
FBI began its probe, shows that Sia Lo's activities
regarding the funeral home project were generating
concern at City Hall, even beyond the allegation
   of criminal wrongdoing."

The print version of todays Pioneer Press has a nice timeline and cast of characters involved in this probe, for those who are trying to catch up.

I would also note, that so far this is just an investigation. I don't believe that anyone has been charged, let alone found guilty of wrongdoing.

That may come yet, but for now - we should not forget that this is merely an investigation.

Here is a link to StarTribune coverage of the issue.
