Ya got yer Italian Mafia, ya got yer Irish McMafia, and ya got yer Lebanese
Mafi-ah. Now ya got yer Hmong Ma Fi Ya. Maybe someone should investigate
THEM, if they're not already the judicial microscope. There are rules and
laws by which we all must abide, and if it's really true that the Hmong KVF
(Kelly Voting Force) have no word for nor concept of "judge" and "jury,"
then it seems the mayor's office is not the only group in dire need of an
American Civics lesson. Not to mention Ethics. And Comparative Religion.
And Great War Speeches of Winston Churchill.
This type of thing would never happen if Britons were still in charge.
Ever heard of the British Mafia? No, you wouldn't've! Now we are reduced
to minority status. Do you realize how difficult it is to find Yorkshire
pudding around here? Oh, I can find a bloody crap taco at 2 in the
morning, or enough humus and babba gahnoosh to sink a flippin' ship, but
you have no idea what's it's like to have nowhere to go for some spotted
dick when the genetic craving strikes, or for mushy peas, or bubble &
squeak, or tripe & liver, or kidney pie, or any other PROPER cuisine. It's
a bulldog's life, let me tell you, and you're damn lucky you're a Black Gay
Irish Methodist Little Person or whatever powerhouse you belong to and not
someone who has to live with being on the losing side of the bleedin'
Revolutionary War! (Of all wars to lose, it would have to be that one!
Blast!) And where's Episcopal Charities downtown, or the English-American
Mansion on Summit Av, eh?! I know not neither. We may be downtrodden, but
at least we have a trace of dignity left, and we're not under
investigation.

DENNIS: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system.
ARTHUR: Shut up!
DENNIS: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! HELP! HELP!
I'm being repressed!
ARTHUR: Bloody peasant!
DENNIS: Oh, what a give away. Did you here that, did you here that, eh?
That's what I'm on about -- did you see him repressing me, you saw it
didn't you?

Subject
[StPaul] Spin, agreeing, hiding

I'm not sure who I'm agreeing with or criticizing ...
I also felt uneasy with Bill Finney's comments. The issue for me, making me
uneasy, was that, agreeing or not agreeing with them, Finney's comments
were so evidently laden with political spin that perhaps he should have
identified himself as associated with a political campaign for an opponent
of Mayor Kelly. Perhaps this is were the concept of 'hiding' came from, the
lack of that identification along with the evident spin rhetoric.
Other than that I think there may be some legitimate rationale for what
Mayor Kelly did and how he handled it. (And perhaps that led me to view the
comments as more spin than substance. I started off with a disagreeing
view). I'm not sure yet.
Further more, the internal memos from staff don't conflict with the
decision Mayor Kelly made about cooperating with other authorities or
timing of release of information. They do continue to bring up concerns
however about how this all worked and I hope there is some accounting for
it at the end, and not just political smoke screens.
