With regard to the Mayor's response to the person who asked that the airport dike not be built because it is not a cost-benefit to the city....:

"(The mayor disagreed, saying that Gander Mountain had moved here because the CEO/President could fly his plane in; and that 3M, Medtronics, etc. used the airport).

How do we weigh cost-benefit? Aren't all of the tax-payers that are in the flight path of these planes paying taxes and contributing to their communities? Flight paths for these planes are low because they have a quick drop off the bluff to land.

Does the ability of a CEO of a company in St. Paul to land his/her plane within 10 driving minutes of the nearest board meeting outweigh the peaceful afternoons of thousands of tax paying citizens? We need to begin placing dollar values upon strong, urban communities and quit salivating for the immediate fix.
