Sorry Dennis. Just because someone understands the structure, does
not mean that they should automatically vote for a candidate that by
his or her election would challenge the structure.
Any candidate has a right to your vote based on your agreement with
the candidate's position on a gamut of issues. They do not have the
right to your vote based on race, gender or one issue. Although, I
know that our voting system allows it and quite a few voters will
use one or more of those reasons to vote for a specific candidate.

This is my last word on the subject and then I'll shut up (ok
Erin?)
In my humble opinion, I think white people who rant about the
"white power
structure" as if they're not part of it, have an OBLIGATION to vote
for any
minority candidate who's on the ballot if they're serious about
their charge
that the whole of society's problem is one of racial inequality.
If not, if
they find some other excuse not to vote for the minority candidate,
then
they should forevermore shut up about the "white power structure"
because
they have no credibility on the subject since they had an
opportunity to do
something about it and didn't. If Ortega isn't elected mayor it'll
be
because the hypocritical white liberals in the DFL power structure
didn't
support him. Simple as that.
