With all Respect to John, I would like to see cigarettes banned, but we have close to 85 years of policy of banning substances and the record is, it simply doesn't work. We first tried Prohibition that led to Al Capone. We have banned marijuana and cocaine forever and we know how effective the "War on Drugs" has been, we've created a whole new generation of gangsters. As I read recently, who would you rather have in your town August Busch or Al Capone. If we ban tobacco, it will become just like marijuana. How long before we see guys on street corners of University Avenue hocking the wicked weed. Would we see FDA agents burning tobacco fields in Kentucky and North Carolina? Let those who want to use damaging substances, use them, just not in places where they can harm other people. Banning tobacco won't work, just ban the use in public enclosed spaces. People should still be permitted to kill themselves in their homes and in their cars if they wish. Dann Dobson Summit Hill.

Actually, I think common sense says ban cigarettes not ban where you can use them. > I would also like to humbly remind you that I do know > republicans and your rightthey ARE bullies! I consider myself a republican but hardly a bully. I ask that before you deal with me, find out who i am so we can avoid the senseless confrontation. john harris camden neighborhood of minneapolis __________________________________ Celebrate Yahoo!'s 10th Birthday!
