Saint Paul Envisions Great River Park International Panel of Experts Will

F%23parkingdirections> as an international panel of parks and community
development experts will be in town for a community discussion on future
possibilities for Saint Paul's riverfront.
Background:
This is the latest event in an ongoing effort to combine
community-engagement with the knowledge of experts to continue redeveloping
our community's connections to the Mississippi River.

In 1997, the Saint Paul on the Mississippi Development Framework was
unveiled as a "living, breathing vision to make our Capital City a truly
special place to live, work, visit and play." The Saint Paul Riverfront
Corporation has led the initiative of reconnecting the City of Saint Paul
and its people, places, and neighborhoods to the Mississippi River in ways
that are consistent with the Framework.

In early 2004, William Morrish and Ken Greenberg, consultants who advised on
the Framework, returned to Saint Paul to analyze the progress. They observed
Saint Paul had stayed the course and reaped many benefits, but also
highlighted opportunities for further redevelopment.

Last November, the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation hosted Mayor Randy
Kelly's StreetBeat community gathering that focused on the future of Saint
Paul's riverfront. The community voiced its praise and ideas about where we
are and where we are headed. A survey was conducted and the results

Results of this collaborative, community-engagement process will be unveiled
at the 11th Annual Millard Fillmore Dinner

This event is a collaboration between the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation
and the Departments of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation and Saint Paul
Planning and Economic Development. For more information visit the Great
River Park website.
