Quite right, Mike!
As irritating as I find most right-wingers to be, (and I find most of them dangerously unaware of and insensitive to issues pertaining to the greater good of society--in my own opinion, of course) I think there is a vital need to keep those voices heard. You know, like Voltaire said--- though I hardly feel that that same sentiment is shared by most on the right. Everyone should be afforded enough rope... even me! I can sometimes see it coiling up around my feet, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to speak my sometimes emotionally impulsive mind.
We are all lucky to be able to participate.

The forum is non-partisan to encourage MORE civic discussion about our community. The rather nave idea many of us have is more public participation and more public deliberation in public issues will strengthen Saint Paul. My opinion is if people have honest disagreements and respectful debate on the forum, then we're actually getting somewhere.

So rather than say this a right or left leaning discussion group, we should take the RADICAL position that it needs to exist for people who want to engage in civic life in Saint Paul. Most of us will agree that there isn't enough honest intellectual discourse in our public lives. We should all
be trying to remedy that.
