At 3:30 this afternoon, Governor Pawlenty, Senator Langseth and
Representative Dorman will hold a press conference to announce that they
have succeeded in crafting a bonding bill that they're sure will pass.

Holman Field is in that bonding bill.

According to a report from one of the conferees, Tim Pawlenty said that
he would veto any St. Paul bonding project that was in the final bill,
if the Holman Field floodwall was not one of them.

That was Randy Kelly's threat and he made good on it. What Randy did
for Pawlenty to get that lousy $1 million will probably not be hard to
trace. Look for Randy to continue to bow and scrape to the current
governor and current President, no matter how bad it is for St. Paul.

No matter what, Randy's victory doesn't bode well for our
neighborhoods, our river environment or city government. That Randy
Kelly succeeded in getting Holman Field funded by the Governor, despite
the opposition of our City Council and all but one member of St. Paul
legislative delegation is depressing news indeed.

There will be new fronts for this fight and we'll keep you posted. For
those who made calls and sent emails, thank you for your efforts.
