Wouldn't you know - one last check of the email before going on a long
anticipated and much deserved family vacation and there is something that I
really should post on...

CULTURAL HERITAGE TOURISM IN SAINT PAUL!!

Well this is very abbreviated, and I will revisit when I get back, but...

Heads up - this is not a partisan topic although it is important for our
elected officials to participate in terms of support and leadership.

Second - there is a a great need for a coordinated system of communicating
to visitors (including those across the river and across the region) the
many resources (cultural, historic, natural, and yes, commerce) Saint Paul
has to offer.

The guide published in the Rake is a start - along with the work the work of
the Saint Paul Cultural Heritage Tourism Task Force facilitated by the CVB
and MN Landmarks (they are looking for neighborhood participation) and the
recent discussions Saint Paul Riverfront Corp has engaged in regarding their
next stage of focus on the riverfront (to be highlighted at next Millard
Fillmore).

Identifying the resources interesting in and/or unique to Saint Paul
(including its neighborhoods) and providing effective interpretive and
way-finding tools are key to success.

The Task Force has been convening meetings to develop and implement a
Cultural Heritage Tourism Plan, published a Saint Paul Cultural Heritage
Pass, and recently created a website vessel that needs resources to develop
and everyone to be involved to evolve it into a useful site. Any and all
information (as well as participation in the Task Force) is welcome and
appreciated.

There is lots more to tell and learn, but as I said earlier a vacation
awaits (am more that ready for it)!

If you would like to become involved with the Task Force please contact:

Have a great week. To those of you lucky enough to be on on Spring Break
please try to take one!
