I am a journalism student at the University of St. Thomas. I am doing a
piece on Mayor Kelly's reconstruction proposal for Ayd Mill Road.
I would really appreciate any information or comments about the proposal.
These are some of questions to think about:
This project was thought-up 50 years ago. Why do you think it took so long
to get a plan into action?
How often do you utilize Ayd Mill Road?
Are you in favor of the reconstruction of Ayd Mill Road to connect 35E and
I-94? Why?
What are your main concerns with this project?
How will this project affect the West Seventh neighborhood? Its residents?
You?
Do you have a sense of the general West Seventh feeling toward this project?
Were you against the initial connection testing initiated in 2002 by Mayor
Kelly? What was your reaction then?
Several alternatives were issued but rejected, including not building,
building a linear park over the pavement or constructing a two-lane
connecting road between the interstates. What alternative, if any, option
do you support for the fate of AMR?
What city/neighborhood projects would you place priority over AMR?
The goal of the reconstruction is to fix congestion and safety problems on
residential streets and to provide better transportation connections? Do
you think these goals are attainable following the reconstruction plan?
