During that time, GSE plant was probably the most talked about topic
in this forum.

This has got to be the biggest understatement of the decade (or at least 4-5 years). GSE (Gopher State Ethanol) DOMINATED the list for weeks, months, even years on this forum.

It still pops on occasion like when the "Liquidation" was happening (But then never actually happened), now again because as has been so elequently pointed out Coleman is still getting money from the owners of the facility.

Those that are unfamiliar with Gopher State Ethanol, and all the reasons why it is no longer operating, what happened with the plant, it's location etc... The website I created to document the problems is still up and running (and still getting lots of hits each month) at http://www.birrenbach.com/GSE/ (last update was In Feb of 2005, so it is still being updated on a regular basis). It not only contains much of the newspaper articles about the plant, but a complete timeline of events that resulted in it's closure. Check it out, it is rather lengthy, but that is cause the plant was such a big problem for so long (and is still a big problem since there seems to be no end in sight for it's complete removal from the neighborhood).

There is also a video that was produced (by myself with the help of many in this forum, including the area's current Council Member Dave Thune, Dori Ullman, the President of the Ft Road Federation, Andrew Hine) to promote the forums and help explain how useful these forums are in educating people about various issues and things for E-Democracy. This video can found at the following URL: http://www.birrenbach.com/SPECIAL/vidprod.html in a real player format. (I think it is also on the E-Democracy website, but not sure it's exact location)

So if you want to learn, not only about the Folly of GSE, but also how it has help to promote online forums like this check the links and learn about it. It is a rather interesting CASE history in how government will react when prodded enough to do so by the very people in this forum.
