I watched SKARE 11 news and read the Strib this morning but I saw no
mention of the train wreck. I guess if no ammonia spills it's not
newsworthy. Nevertheless, the sight of tank cars laying on their sides and
box cars that looked like a tin can that a Webelo tried to open for his
first time with a Swiss Army Knife was unnerving. These are the rails
(right below the yellow tower in Mounds Park, right where Childs Road
enters Warner Road, upstream-bound) that have been under repair for ages,
and the ones on which the Empire Builder ride. Thankfully, it appears we
averted an environmental and/or a passenger train disaster. But I still
think it's newsworthy...
