She left out my saltier comments about what it must be like to live in Baghdad, but I am very confident that at one time, coming down Walnut street to come back, that thing was less than 100 feet off the ground. My house is 32 feet high, and it was, visually, less than three of those total.
That's when I wasn't so much mad as just worried. Living by the Mississippi* is a very nice thing, except that people do like to screw it all up from time to time.
* I refuse to say "The Riverfront", as it ignores one of the great brand names in the world. Instead of Mississippi, they opt for something more like "The MacDonald's" by "The Offramp". Go figger.
