At one point, one of the speakers ( Senator Mee Moua? ) invited veterans onto the stage and 75 men and women of every age came to the stage under thunderous and sustained applause. I think they received more applause than everyone else put together. Everyone was standing. It was very moving, and I was very glad to be able to show my own appreciation for the service of our veterans.
We must never forget that these men and women have stepped forward to defend their country. That their service and sacrifice has sometimes been horrendously abused by chickenhawks should serve to motivate us to fight harder for the principles that our vets fight for.
