Respectfully, that's a Good Try. Unfortunately, Biology IS a science. Evolution is a scientific theory of biology. As such, it is subject to theoretical testing.
Intelligent Design is a marketing approach designed to promote creationism. It cannot be tested in a scientific fashion. It is actually a philosophical belief, which has been around for quite a while. It is a form of a philosophical fallacy effectively countered by empiricists like David Hume prior to 1800. It is an attempt to return American education to a pre-rational, pre-Enlightenment belief system. Tim, sorry if I'm off the St Paul-ness here, but small things like this bug me. Perhaps this begs the question of science and philosophical teaching in the Saint Paul Schools. I actually learned about these issues in a Minneapolis Public School. Or is it just a straw man set up to get people to react and expose their politically incorrect views at a nominating convention? Because if it's part of a serious movement this is the first I've heard of it. The fact of the matter is, evolution isn't a science either. It's all based on extrapolation (due to too many unanswered questions) and hence, is only a theory as well. So if there is discussion in this regard, one can surmise that it takes the form of "Hey, since they're teaching evolution, which is only a theory, they should be teaching creationism along side it, which the academics have called only a theory also."
