I couldn't agree more with that sentiment about the so-called MSM. The trickle-down effect of their crap is quite evident on this list. Folks would rather drag others through the trash than accept that preferences vary among citizens. They go to great extremes to "prove" that their preference is superior, or that the preference of other citizens is flawed. When their "proof" isn't accepted universally, the get nasty. Real nasty, particularly if they sense the issue you raise could tarnish their preference in any way.
