Congratulations guys, Although I wasn't the least bit surprised at the landslide. I thought McCain started at a disadvantage by association, and did little to distance himself from the current admin. There was clearly some sabotage from within his campaign, as numerous details leaked that should not have, but the intended substance of the campaign was light on direction and heavy on slander.
Obama, on the other hand, had a lot of money to play with, and he ran a very focused and modern campaign. He campaigned in many new an interesting ways (infomercial. iphone app.) that reached out to new voters. I think some of his success was convincing people to vote that had not in the two previous elections. To the conservatives on the list, my condolences on the loss, but despite the campaign flak, Obama is far closer to center than socialist. My prediction is that, in reality, McCain and Obama agree on more than they disagree on, and the substance of his presidency will be far more restrained and positive than the dire descent into communism that the republicans predicted.
