Frankly, comics and graphic novels are a good fit for movies. The storyboarding is already done, and the stories are light on prose, heavy on action. As much as I love books, most of favorites would make crappy movies. Movies aren't as deep or as wide as books. Books are a combination of dialog, action, and inner dialog. I loved Planet Terror. Maybe Rodriguez has a retro sensibility that would make it a fun ride. Akira would rock. End of story. Maybe that's nostalgia. Ghost in the shell.... I dunno. Why? They've done two full length, and numerous episodes. As well as two very modern versions of Appleseed. I'm a fan of Masamune Shirow, and the themes are well suited to allegories of modern terrorism, but I feel like I've Shirowed out. Battlestar Gallactica really mined that vein for western audiences. I'm with Mugs on this. Moebius would be a nice change of pace. Frezatto maybe? How about Bone? Maus? Cerebus?
