"Childish and unnecessary" could be the subject line of 90% of our conversations. > Had you been paying attention or actually read what I wrote during > the campaign you'd know that most of my criticism was directed at the > media and the ignorant that voted for Obama because they projected > their political beliefs onto him. If he wasn't, he couldn't have run. Period. You continually highlighted the relationship with Bill Ayers, who was not, and never was a close personal friend. You saw that relationship as a warning flag, I saw it as intellectual curiosity. It's not poor reporting because they didn't jump to the same conclusion you did. You highlighted irregularities at ACORN as proof that he was trying to pervert the voting process, whereas I understood that ACORN was required to flag suspect voter registration cards and send them in, by law. Not making your assumptions was not a failure of the main stream media. I thought you were wrong on both counts, and I said so at the time. That being said, mainstream media is entertainment, not journalism, and has been for some time. They're chasing eyeballs and advertising dollars. Journalism has been perverted by capitalism, just like health care and a lot of other things I hold in higher esteem than money. Of course, that makes me a dirty socialist, so I'm not sure how I could agree or disagree without getting into a fight about it. > No one knew how Obama would govern. Not even a know-it-all like you. > His only administrative experience was kept secret with the willing > participation of the media. -- No, I don't have a crystal ball, but I know how he projects himself. He didn't run as a hot-headed "maverick", he ran a calm and collected campaign and didn't radically change course at every opportunity. I fully expect his term to be thoughtful and inclusive, and I'll stick by that. > Before you keep extolling the virtues of compromise, you might want > to bone up on your perspicacity. Ever. b) Because I have no interest either way in Gay Marriage, although I really couldn't care less for the religious sanctimony of marriage when divorce is quick and legal. c) Because I have no interest in defending respect for religion, especially one that turns a blind eye to marital abuse, and often espouses it.
