Heck, I was still in diapers back then. If women are full and equal, how come we keep having men voting about what we can do with our bodies, and interfering with our conversations with our doctors? Why didn't we get to vote on whether or not Viagra prescriptions would be covered by insurance? When I was in school, Latin was introduced in the 2nd grade, so we could see the roots of words. It's too bad that education has been gutted and warped to fit agendas other than helping to create an educated population. Here, we're having a huge struggle between the school board and a local school, which has been trying to be a magnet school for several years. There is a lot of local support, almost all the funding has been done privately, and a vast number of volunteers has renovated the aging school building we're using, but the board keeps refusing to support the school in those bureaucratic ways required by the state. One of their basic problems with the school seems to be the words "arts and sciences" in the name. *sigh* I feel for you about your corrupt legislature, we're dealing with the same thing here. No matter that we need jobs, have horrific infrastructure issues - all they're interested in is pushing their anti-woman agenda. Unfortunately, we've got electronic voting booths all over the state, and the districts keep getting redrawn in absurd patterns that skew elections. Our representatives don't even live here, neither does our city council member. Can't figure out how that guy keeps getting re-elected, he's done mind-boggling things like push to have single 40oz beers sold at all hours across the street from an elementary school - his argument was that Colt 45 is good for the community.
