not sure what started this, but after viewing a PDF attachment from some shipper[i did check online to see if it was a real company] the 2 page doc was blank on page 1 and had a ghostly "PDF" icon on page two...tried saving it and got the same view from preview.app. crinkly aluminium hat off/ the latest security update 'forced' a reboot and the computer started up in the SL land, previously from lion. so after a couple days, that environment turned in to the sluggish, tired old thing that it is already and i wanted to get back to 10.6.x ...so i get to the cosmos splash screen, then a blank screen, then the outer space scene time and again...never getting to the desktop. so i did the single user check disk, did the pram reset...no solution. i've started dragging things off that partition to erase, and came to a locked folder: system=>library=>user templates...unlock it and it contains the foreign languages templates...is this folder supposed to be locked to everyone except the system? i'm guessing it's something there at the first initiating startup for all users, and after selecting the language preferences this is locked up...? also there is, in the get info pallet, a user called "wheel"...with a few checks it only has read access to some folders...? i'm going to wipe this partition and re install lion on it. i wonder why SL "is not the OS i'm looking for"? memory goblin....
