Cover the window so there is no reason for the cat to jump on the scanner table.

drum scanners are migrating from businesses to people's homes (usually photographers) so the issues seem to be changing....
on a drum scanner mailing list, this popped up:

Ok sorry for the weird question.....but I have recently acquired two cats and live in a studio/loft type carriage house apartment. I also recently acquired a DPL 8000 - lives up in the loft and there is no way I can keep the cats from getting up there. I'm not too worried about dust and hairs as I have been able to keep the area clean so far. But I am worried that the cats, well 1 in particular, likes to use the scanner and the table it sits on as a platform to jump on when going between the window and floor. The window is about 2 feet above the scanner, and the cat weighs a little less than 10lbs at this point. The scanner seems to have a pretty tough exterior, but I worry that eventually the jostling could lead problems. Any thoughts? Should I worry about this? I haven't noticed the cat near the scanner while its running as I think the noise keeps her at bay.
