we could be doing this too; would already have done it had our congress not 
been so deeply funded by coal and oil. :(

My dad's proposal to make all FLA school roofs into solar energy generators 
back in 1972 was so vigorously denigrated by the state lege that he gave up his 
solar energy business, even though he'd just designed a collector that could be 
built by anyone using common materials, and not only heat water up to the 
boiling point but also store it. I went to an energy committee meeting in 1978, 
hoping to get some support to bring him back into the fray, and was told that 
he could not have done what his documentation showed. No discussion, just 
denial.
