I don't really know Randy, but this statement is entirely in keeping with what
I've seen and heard out of him over the years. Sharing it here because it
epitomizes what I used to think all Americans were like, and unfortunately,
rarely see examples of in the media.

If you're unfamiliar with the story - Randy's band Lamb of God was performing,
and a fan jumped up onstage. A security guard rushed forward to push him
offstage and away from Randy, who also had his left hand on him - his right
hand was holding the mic. This type of thing happens all the time at their
shows, since they're a metal band and most of their fans make mosh pits in
front of the stages. The guy was not caught when he fell into the crowd, and
died from injuries in the fall. Randy did not know that he was accused of
maliciously killing this man until he arrived to perform there again as part of
their tour. He was arrested and spent a month in jail while refused bail, was
not allowed access to communicate, and has just arrived home on bail. Videos of
the incident are all over the net. Here's one angle, slowed and repeated.
Randy's a loose-boned, lanky fellow a few years younger than I, who was most
likely drunk and high at the time. I don't mean to slander him; they were in
the middle of a tour, playing a town where they always have a huge,
enthusiastic crowd. In fact, I can't imagine him willfully hurting anyone, but
that's just my impression.

Here's the first interview he did on release.
