Crap, didn't see that the Monoprice one was back-ordered. Your iMac doesn't do USB3, and gigabit is overkill unless your moving tons and tons of data around your home network, say from your iMac to another computer. Your connection to the internet is constrained by your ISP's speed.
Apple's USB-Ethernet is only $29 <http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC704ZM/A/apple-usb-ethernet-adapter?fnode=58> ONe thing to look at on the iMac…a couple of times I've had ethernet ports 'go bad' by one of the wires inside getting jammed up and out of it's socket, take a flashlight and magnifying glass to the back of the iMac. I've fixed it with some careful work with forceps, then carefully sticking in the ethernet cable.
