And the greatest argument of all:

It took me over a 1 week to read struts 2 doc and convert the smallest part of
my application that was independant.
The same process in stripes took me 2 or 3 days.

Hi,

I tried to migrate a site from struts 1 to struts 2. I finally gave up very
quiclky due to the following.
1) Struts 2 throws a hole bunch of null pointer exceptions as soon as you try
using domain objects (which they recommand).
2) To limit the number null exceptions you'll get, you need to use OGNL and the
way to use OGNL with struts 2 was not documented when I tested migration (on
may 2007).
3) The fact they force you to use OGNL scripting is bad to me. The script are
very difficult to read for a non-OGNL user.
4) They "force" you to use FreeMarker, and is yet another scipting language in
which it is easy to get lost.
5) When using the defaults, all you forms will be in tables with 3 columns.
Unless you known FreeMarker, you won't be able to change it.

Subject: [Stripes-users] Stripes vs. Struts 2

Hello,

My company is currently ready to migrate away from Struts 1.x. The finalists
are Stripes and Struts 2. I'm doing my best to push Stripes, but others in the
decision making process appear partial to Struts 2 -- I think mostly because it
has a bigger community.

Can anybody help me with some facts or points that prove Stripes is better than
Struts 2? I have several of my own but I'd like to know what others, who
likely know more about Struts 2 then me, think.

Thank you!!!

-Ryan
