First, of course I am referring to Tim Fennell, creator of Stripes. Second, Struts 2 is not a Stripes clone. They did not copy Stripes. But in some releases of Struts 2, there is some code taken from Stripes and copied into the Struts 2 code base. If memory serves, I think it was the class(es) that did the automatic discovery work to reduce configuration. To be clear, they were perfectly allowed to copy this code. They left it intact and included the credit to Tim as being the author. I'm not against that they did this--probably better that they copy the code and give Tim credit, rather than write their own code that is 99% the same and not give Tim any credit. On the other hand, they didn't go out of their way to inform Tim of this, either. Please, please, please do not turn this into a Struts 2 vs Stripes war. There is no bad blood; let's not start any bleeding. Instead, just know that the important part of my post was that I found it rather amusing that RubyAMF has an MIT license that has one exception, saying that WebORB (their competitor) cannot use their code. I thought this would give others a chuckle on a Friday. That's it.
