I would be concerned about letting that genie out of the bottle until we have a 
specific usecase for 2.3/1.2. 

I think focusing on interoperating with JSTL/JSF in 1.2.x but integrating itfor the 
2.0.x series, which seems 
like a fair plan to me. 

With the platform change, both codebases could proceed simulatneously, so 2.0.x would 
not have to "wait" for 
1.2.x. 

If during implementation, 2.3/1.2 support becomes irresistiable for specific reasons, 
then we can ask around.
