That was it!  I switched from mod_jserv to mod_jk and all is working
fine now.  (This is one of my own apps, BTW.)

Just as a reference, this is using: tomcat-3.2-b7, struts-0.5 and the
prebuilt mod_jk.so from the binary tomcat-3.2-b7 download directory.
