I just started using sslext this morning, and I've run into the same issues that Brian McSweeney brought up in this thread.
I was hoping to avoid using the taglib at all, as Adam Hardy said he does, so I dropped the sslext.jar in and made some changes to the struts-config. I found that the app does not switch to https at all. Only when I use the sslext tag does it switch. I also find that the app does not switch out of https: The only page in which I've used the sslext tag is my login page. I'm going to try changing my other html:form tags over to sslext. -- ==Leonard E.
