It seems like the <html:form> tag still adds a "name" attribute to the generated <form> tag (as was the issue in the mentioned discussion from half a year ago) , and validators don't like that in XHTML.... So either I'm badly mistaken, or it still hasn't changed.

Can't remember when I started, but it definitely works on struts 1.1. There are a couple of issues to look out for, such as with tiles, where you use the tag you mention.
