![]() Troy is
an especially odd historical epic. Much of whats good about it comes
from
moments of narrative daring things that are either so dramatic they
might have come from Shakespeare or so against conventional wisdom that you
have to admire the sheer guts of the attempt. Much of whats wrong
with it comes from stretches of really problematic dialogue (it was not a
good idea to give Odysseus the character whose name is the basis for
the type of tale called an odyssey a voiceover including
the line, If they ever tell my story
) and a miscast
pivotal character.

NAD
PowerDrive - So Smart, It Knows What Your Speakers Are Thinking
They say that knowledge is
power. So when it comes to reacting to the constantly fluctuating power
needs of today's loudspeakers, an A/V receiver has to be very smart indeed.
Most A/V receivers fail the test and you hear distortion. NAD's dual-rail
power supply knows when your speakers need extra help to deliver clean,
undistorted sound. The result is honor roll performance
for your movies and music. Visit your nearest NAD dealer or do your
homework at www.NADelectronics.com/power

Gladiator
Giant
jars of blazing oil slam into trees, inundating the warriors below with
liquid fire. War machines fire arrows the size of spears, shishkabobbing
men in fur cloaks. Gladiators dressed as minotaurs slam spiked balls into
the heads of their opponents. Men on foot are forced to battle armor-clad
charioteers. Tigers leap from beneath the floor of the Colosseum in ancient
Rome and claw at our desperate hero. And Gladiator's great fun between the
astonishing action as well.

Ben-Hur
Ben-Hur stands out among 50s Biblical epics. For
one thing, it won an armload of Oscars 11 in all. There are a number
of films of that era that are true spectacles in terms of sheer production
value, but Ben-Hur, unlike most of its kindred, can boast
multi-faceted characters. The screenplay credited to Karl Tunberg (Gore
Vidal took an uncredited by acknowledged crack at it) from Lew
Wallaces novel, is obviously a product of its day, but it holds up
extremely well and its a good deal more emotionally complex than,
say, Gladiator. It is also very long 212 minutes
and, in its DVD release, very wide. Transferred in its original 2.76:1
aspect ratio, Ben-Hur has one of the most extensive (from side
to side) and short (from top to bottom) images ever to grace the
screen.

Ever wonder what happens to your
A/V system when the lights dim?
Mere
conditioners and filters can't fix that. When the incoming power is
degraded by low voltage and a dirty sinewave, it's like putting 74 octane
gas into a high performance engine. Suddenly, the performance you expected
and paid for is gone. To solve that problem, you need perfect power. Only
ExactPower's EP15A Precision Voltage Regulation and Waveform Correction
system delivers 120 perfect volts on a pristine 60Hz sinewave, with up to
1500 watts on demand to 8 outlets on the rear panel for dramatically
improved audio and video performance. Winner of the Best New Product Debut
of 2003! Click here to find out
